Lately I’ve been aspiring to make lists. Last week, I made a list of all the movies that I’ve been meaning to see, but never have. It had 95 films on it. Now when I go out to a bar, I have a short mental list of the drinks I’ve always meant to try, but still haven’t. I think my next list will be of my favorite movies, or favorite albums of all time. I mean, you use a “to do” list for the chores in your life, so why not make a list for all the recreation you’ve been meaning to do as well?

I’ve only got one week left in DC, so I’m trying to get a list together of all the things I still need to do. Grams Fox mentioned the national cathedral. What other suggestions do you guys have?

In other news, the AC got fixed yesterday! That was exciting, to say the least. I think that when they were fixing the AC, they must have done something to the internet connection, because it’s flying today compared to how it’s been running the past few weeks.

Sorry I’ve been so behind on updating. Things were all lined up for my weekend post to be up on Sunday, but then I hit some computer troubles. No worries, though. The good ol’ laptop decided to quit complaining and finally boot all the way up today.

Yesterday (Monday) was great. We had ourselves a little picnic on the mall right before Screen on the Green. The movie playing that night was “Arsenic and Old Lace” from 1941. It’s an oldie, but a goodie. I even managed to sneak in a few z’s during the middle of the film.

It seems that tonight (Tuesday) our AC broke in the whole dorm, so things have gotten a little bit uncomfortable these past few days. I don’t know, though. The way I see it, summer’s supposed to be hot, right?

I’ll write some more when I can. Promise.

Yesterday I biked to Mount Vernon with my fellow JPSM-er Suzanne. From Foggy Bottom, it was about an 18 mile ride. I had never biked that far before in my life. I know it pales in comparison to a lot of bike enthusiasts, but I thought that it seemed like a bit of a ride anyhow.

The trail was tree lined (for the most part) and ran along the Potomac, past the Reagan National Airport, through Old Town Alexandria, and finally ended at the parking lot to the Mount Vernon Estate. We had rented bikes for the day, but they clearly weren’t designed  or maintained for the kind of trip we took them on.

We're Here!

We're Here!

That evening I managed to catch a performance of “If you see something, say something,” an intriguing monologue which was part of the Capitol Fringe Festival. Afterwards, Esther and I went out for some drinks, finally hit up Madam’s Organ (which is something I’ve been meaning to do for a loooong time), and called it a night just in time to take the last train to Clarkesville – well, really to “Farragut North,” but that’s not the name of the song, now is it?

Today I headed out to the Botanical Gardens and got to take a peak at some of their exhibits. Here’s a photo that I liked.

Tomorrow I’ve got designs on having a picnic on the mall with some work friends before taking part in the “Screen on the Green” outdoor movie. I know that lately there have been a lot of festivities back in the wonderful state of Minnesota, so I’d just like to give a shout out to all my peeps holding it down in the best place on earth.
